I bought these a couple of months ago, repacing the MK2's, minor concern that the cable has a tendency to tangle & it is bother to detach the cable to sort, would not this be better to have a flat cable?, but the detachable abilty is a great step forward.

I got Q701 quincy, but this K550 MK3 is better for listen music. thanks AKG.

Solid Sounds
Owned these for nearly 2 months and am very pleased with their smooth, balanced and highly detailed sound. I did find it important however to give them some time. I don't believe in burn in but perhaps in break in or brain adjustment. Either way they appeared improved to me after 10 to 20 hours use. The balance was constant but bass notes, while no deeper, seemed to extend or fill out. Now they just sound beautiful to me. Good depth and impact while pretty close to neutral, how I prefer. I also felt comfort increased as the pads and cushion bedded in. Isolation is just ok, but good enough for me not to feel too disturbed by a TV in the background, and naturally far better than open back headphones. They get a little warm but I can last a movie comfortably. They are easily driven by my tablet and feel built to last.

Mostly good, but ultimately a little lacking
Lovely mids and highs...... Really open sound for closed headphones...... Disappointingly lean on the bottom end, they go deep but they go light and can seem almost like cutting the heart out of the music...... Beautiful but flawed

Impossible to get support on the mobile version
Had the AKGk550s for a few years, and while the sound is OK for the cost, the cheap PU leather material on the Ear pads disintegrated almost completely. I have tried ordering replacement ones ionline, without much success, they have also tried contacting AKG for support, but it has been impossible to reach them for help.
