Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best yet I bought these a couple of months ago, repacing the MK2's, minor concern that the cable has a tendency to tangle & it is bother to detach the cable to sort, would not this be better to have a flat cable?, but the detachable abilty is a great step forward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sound so great ! highly recommend. very nice sound quality with price. cable separately is more good idea for durable.( my cats always bite and destroy cable ) I always satisfied harman kardon sound, even my car speaker (logic 7). akg also. I got Q701 quincy, but this K550 MK3 is better for listen music. thanks AKG.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Sounds Owned these for nearly 2 months and am very pleased with their smooth, balanced and highly detailed sound. I did find it important however to give them some time. I don't believe in burn in but perhaps in break in or brain adjustment. Either way they appeared improved to me after 10 to 20 hours use. The balance was constant but bass notes, while no deeper, seemed to extend or fill out. Now they just sound beautiful to me. Good depth and impact while pretty close to neutral, how I prefer. I also felt comfort increased as the pads and cushion bedded in. Isolation is just ok, but good enough for me not to feel too disturbed by a TV in the background, and naturally far better than open back headphones. They get a little warm but I can last a movie comfortably. They are easily driven by my tablet and feel built to last.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossible to get support on the mobile version Had the AKGk550s for a few years, and while the sound is OK for the cost, the cheap PU leather material on the Ear pads disintegrated almost completely. I have tried ordering replacement ones ionline, without much success, they have also tried contacting AKG for support, but it has been impossible to reach them for help.

I have the K550 (first version so i guess MKI). Besides the detachable cable in the MKIII is there any difference between the MKI and MKIII sonically speaking?

Asked by: polskasweetie
Hi! I have K550 MK1 and MK2, they sound very different. MK1 has a bit more on the treble than natural, adding more space to the music, a little less mid-bass, while MK2 is neutral in the proper way :) Music sounds better on my MK1, but MK2 is more realistic, so I use that for eg. music recording and editing.

Do these sound any different than the K553 Pro mkII? If not, what is the exact difference between the two? Are they made in different places? Thanks

Asked by: donunus
The K550 MKII and K553 headphones actually are similar to each other and the main difference would be more on the components that were used to create them.
