Rated 5 out of 5 by from @Toma or anyone else with earpad problem! Another happy Y40 owner here. Since I cant reply to Toma, I hope for your understanding. I can confirm the earpad falling apart, in my case it happened approximately 1 year on both sides. However, I found solution that works perfectly. Just a standard superglue (acrylat) repairs them very fast and very very reliable. Because it seems that the factory glue is pretty bad (luckily, this is the only weak point in whole Y40), you might be even better slowly tearing apart the pads before they fall off, that is - break and repair them in advance. But when I say "tear apart", I mean that you should pull them really slowly so that they come off clearly and nothing is actually torn, of course. I glued them like this - looked where exactly original glue was and how they were connected together, applied a drop along the line to one part, held another part against it for few seconds; then I continued with a step of 1 cm from each drop. After the base carcass held, I glued the places inbetween - and the pads hold absolutely fantastic now. Also, I have purchased 2.5mm to 3.5mm male-female adapter + 3.5 to 3.5 male-male extension cable in addition, which saves me the trouble of broken original cable, which I don't use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bass frequencies +1 Not confortable to the ear but the frequency rate is enough for high quality flacc's. Not important for common person, but as a dj i would assume these frequencies would be necessary to expand to the spectrum of the sound. I would recommend to test before buing as it damps the higher frequencies. Materials could have been more higher quality as it fights in the mid range category of headphones.

Audio quality is good, i like the bass BUT, when i lean over, even just a little bit, they are falling/sliding off my head and so i have to re-place them on my head every 2-3 minutes. Irritating!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Same problem with the earpad Hi, I have the same problem with the earpad. As you can see in the photo I have found a way to fix it by sewing one earpad. but one week after the other one is already falling apart. I'll try to sew it too. If you want a product that you don't need to sew or glue after 1year, you may consider buying something else. I have bought the AKG K-450 before and It still work perfectly : The sound quality is the same. Unfortunalety it was replaced by the Y40.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Headphones are falling apart! Hi, I have been using AKG Y40 for almost 2 years only in the office and they are falling apart (see photo). The frame is durable and can fold easily as the ear pads just fall away. Price to quality rate is definitely not worth the purchase as now I need to look for another ones. Toma

Does the remote have volume control?

Hi, Yes, the AKG Y40 remote has volume control. The in-line remote is a 3-button design, where the middle button can be used to answer phonecalls, or to play/pause music and skip songs.
