N20 NC is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound and features in a sleek package I bought this in 2017 to use with my Samsung Galaxy S7. I also have an iPad, so I was intrigued by the Android/iOS switch. But the remote didn't work all the time on my S7; pressing + to increase the volume would sometimes lower it (confirmed with a third-party app). So these went into storage for a while. I've since upgraded to an S9 and the controls work flawlessly. I love how small they are, without sacrificing the sound. I find foam tips (not included) to be a little better for the sound overall, but if they aren't inserted right, music sounds low-res. The ANC works well on flights & on the train. It doesn't totally eliminate environmental sound, but I can focus on my music and podcasts without distraction. I'll be using them in the summer instead of my over-ear ANC pair and I don't think I'll miss a beat. If I clip my phone to my belt, the control box can get in the way and is a little hard to position due to it's placement on the cable (close to the phone end & not the headphone end). Making the box smaller, the cable longer, or moving the box higher up might be a solution for a future product.

How many decibels is the noise attenuation or reduction level? This is a common rating for active noise cancelling earphones I just can't find for this model.

Asked by: Polargirl
At this time, we do not have this information. It is very hard to gauge Noise reduction level because this depends on the outside environment noise and the music at which the person is listening to. If these headphones do not match your tastes, no need to worry as we still have the 30 day return policy so you can still test these headphones for the duration

Is the noise cancelling device detachable? Or is it hardwired and cannot be removed when I don't want to use it??

Asked by: Jo P
Hi. The NC box is permanently attached to the cable, so it is not removable. Any answer saying that it is removable is wrong.

When the nc dies can you still use the earbuds with out them?

Asked by: Inzombia
Yes you could still use the AKG N20 ear phones even if the Active Noise Cancellation is deactivated or no longer working. What's going to happen is that the audio signals will go through normally and bypass the noise cancellation feature.
